Makita, the UK’s number one professional power tool manufacturer, has introduced two new 18V LXT 5-piece brushless kits which represent a substantial saving by comparison with individual purchases.

The new DLX5042PT kit contains a combi drill, impact driver, angle grinder, rotary hammer and a handy LED flashlight and is packaged as the 5-piece construction kit.

The Makita DHP484 combi drill will run up to 2,000rpm in high mode, 500rpm in low mode, with an impact performance of 30,000ipm in high and 7,500ipm in low modes, with a maximum torque of 54Nm with 21 settings and drill mode. This combi drill will punch a 13mm hole in masonry, and with all-metal gear box and aluminium gear housing is ideal for rugged site operations.

The compact DTD153 single-speed impact driver produces 170 Nm of torque, 3,600ipm, with a no load speed up to 3,400 rpm. This model has a ¼” hex; one-touch chuck, an electric brake, variable speed control trigger, and as with all power tools in this kit, the DTD153 features a brushless motor for longer runtime, less friction and more torque.

Also contained in this comprehensive kit is the DGA456 115mm angle grinder which will run up to 8,500 rpm with a maximum 6mm wheel thickness. It features Automatic Speed Control which changes the cutting speed according to the load condition.

The powerful DHR242 SDS+ rotary hammer will punch a 24mm hole into concrete, 13mm in steel and 27mm in wood. It will run up to 950rpm and generates up to 4,700 blows per minute with 2.0 Joules of impact energy.

The second kit is the DLX5043PT more suited to woodworking applications. This kit features the combi drill, impact driver and flashlight contained in the DLX5042PT kit together with a circular saw and jigsaw.

The Makita DHS680 cordless circular saw produces 680 watts of motor power that will run the 165mm blade up to 5,000rpm without load and also features Automatic Speed Control. Maximum cutting depth at 0° is 57mm; 41mm at 45° and 37mm at 50°. A large lock-off lever fixes the cutting angle. In operation a blower function blows sawdust off the cutting line for a clear view of the blade path, and Makita recommends that a rear dust port should be connected to use a dust extraction system.

The DJV182 jigsaw will run from 800 up to 3,500 strokes per minute with a 26mm stroke length giving a maximum cut in wood of 135mm, 10mm in steel and 20mm in aluminium. The rigid aluminium base bevels 0-45°, both left and right. For safety, after the trigger is released, the machine will lock automatically if the lock-on button is not pressed within 10 seconds.

Both new Makita kits provide a financial saving over buying the products individually and are supplied complete with three 18V 5.0Ah Lithium-ion batteries and a twin-port fast charger. The tools are packaged in a rugged, flexible tool bag that has a shoulder strap, handgrip and very useful trolley wheels and an extendable handle for ease of transport of your tools whilst keeping them safe.

Makita has launched its first ever cordless SDS-MAX Rotary Demolition Hammer, featuring all the power and performance of a mains machine whilst benefitting from the freedom and manoeuvrability that a battery-operated tool has to offer. The mighty DHR400ZKU is powered by two 18v LXT batteries giving 36v power from the brushless motor for extended run-time and increased power.

As with the popular HR4013C mains machine, the new Makita DHR400ZKU Twin 18v SDS-MAX Rotary Demolition Hammer will punch a 40mm hole into concrete, will run up to 500rpm and will generate up to 2,900 blows per minute with 8.0 Joules of impact energy.

Makita’s AVT – Anti-Vibration Technology – is featured in this model which gives the hammer drilling vibration rating – when hammer drilling into concrete – of just 5.0m/s². This rugged 2-mode machine – rotary drilling with hammer action and hammer action-only for chiselling – has the easy-to-operate mode change switch positioned conveniently on top of the motor body ahead of the vibration-reducing rear grip handle. With variable speed controlled by the grip trigger, and a constant speed control that can be set for constant running when chiselling, the DHR400ZKU can also be used with the trigger controlling chiselling for intermittent work. A further position of the mode control allows the bit angle to be set as required.

The DHR400ZKU also benefits from the new Makita Auto-Start Wireless System (AWS) which allows the tool to automatically connect to compatible Makita dust extractors. A unique chip will come with every machine that features AWS allowing the user to pair it up with the selected dust extractor. Once paired, the dust extractor will automatically start once the trigger on the hammer is pulled.

This new machine also has the Soft Start feature which accelerates the motor into action even if the trigger is pulled fully home from off. In drilling mode this reduces the sudden torque load on start up. When operating, the torque limiter connected to the side handle will cut the motor drive should the drill bit snag thus providing further operator protection. The soft no load function automatically cuts the motor speed during idling to reduce vibration generation which contributes to this hard-working Makita rotary hammer. An electric brake and useful LED job light are also featured.

The DHR400ZKU is available as a body only machine and comes with a carry case.

  • 110v and 240v models with Power Take Off options
  • Increased airflow and new automatic filter cleaning system

Makita’s 447M M-Class dust extractor has set high performance and reliability standards throughout industry since its introduction and the latest version of the M-Class extractor, the new VC4210M, bristles with new features whilst maintaining a highly competitive price point.

The new Makita VC4210M fully meets the EU standards of protection demanded of the M-Class dust control regulations. This is the minimum standard permitted for legally compliant work in construction environments. The updated design has moved the motor, control module and main filter higher up into the upper body housing which increases the tank working capacity. This enables a 30 litre disposable bag to be filled and for wet suction the tank will hold 29 litres before the new, automatic fluid level valve shuts off the motor, protecting the machine from flooding. The tank sits neatly inside the double-wall moulded body housing on big rear wheels and robust front steel castors.

Available in 110v and 240v modes there are three variants: 110v models with and without Power Take Off to drive integrated power tools and a 240v model with Power Take Off. When connected to a power tool, the extractor switches off automatically when the power tool is shut down. The motor input wattage is 1000W for the 110v model and 1200W for the 240v machine. The 110v model with Power Take Off will provide 1750W for tool power and the 240v model 1800W.

Maximum airflow and filtration performance have been substantially increased for the new VC4210M extractor with max air flow now 4.5m³/min. The latest Makita automatic filter cleaning system uses the strong airflow reversed regularly through each of the air filter routes to ensure the durable PTFE filter is kept clear. Access to this high-efficiency filter is through a new large hatchback port in the rear of the housing, enabling access to the filter without having to remove the motor head. An air flow sensor will bleep a warning if the filter becomes clogged, the tank is full or there is a restriction in the suction pipe.

The new Makita VC4210M dust extractor has a flat top housing design, useful for depositing hand tools and accessories, and Makita Makpac cases can be attached using an optional accessory adaptor plate. Delivered with a 5m long, 32mm diameter suction tube, this versatile extractor has individual operating settings for hose diameters of 21, 27, 32, 36 and 38mm.

Dust extraction is a health and safety ‘must’ on all sites and the new Makita VC4210 M-class unit protects the working environment at an affordable price.
