For the second consecutive year, Domus Ventilation – part of the Polypipe group – will be exhibiting at the Specifi Building Services roadshows throughout the year.  The first two events are in Leeds on the 18th March and Bristol on 1st April, with a further four being held later this year.

Aimed at Building Services Engineers & Consultants, Building Services Contractors and Facilities Management, the Specifi roadshows provide a more informal alternative to exhibitions as they are held late afternoon / early evening with a leading industry speaker and a dinner over which to further network and discuss projects, products and professional development.

Domus Ventilation will be exhibiting its range of high-performance mechanical ventilation systems at Specifi, which include the HRXE, HRX2D and HRX-aQ Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) ranges and the CMX-MULTI Mechanical Extract Ventilation (MEV) unit.

New to this year’s shows will be the company’s first ever in-line carbon filter range – NOX-FILT – designed to improve indoor air quality by preventing harmful airborne contaminants from entering a home.  Up to 99.5% of nitrogen dioxide (NO²) pollution is removed using the NOX-FILT, making it the best performing MVHR inline filter on the market.

Designed to work on the supply leg of the ducting system of an MVHR system, NOX-FILT works seamlessly with the system to deliver fresh, filtered air into the main living areas of homes.  A very low profile means it readily fits into restricted spaces.

There are two units in the range; the first being the NOX-FILT which houses a carbon filter cell only and the second, the NOX-FILT2.5, having the added benefit of a PM2.5 pre-filter to maximise the filtration of particulate matter equal or larger in size to 2.5 microns.  Carbon filtration is a proven technology, with wide ranging pollutants attracted to the surface of the carbon and absorbed.  With safe levels of NO² and PM2.5 regularly breached in the UK, these pollutants are a major cause for concern to public health having known links to allergies, asthma, lung cancer, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, cardiovascular disease and even dementia.

On hand at Specifi to advise on the latest, cost-effective ventilation solutions will be Domus Ventilation’s Specification team.  They will also be promoting the company’s CIBSE CPD accredited course on “Residential Ventilation Principles and Best Practice”, along with the free technical and design services available.  Visitors to the shows can also pick up Domus Ventilation’s latest in-depth Specification Guide, which has been developed to support Consultant’s specifications.

Domus Ventilation has a well-deserved reputation for quality, supported by excellent technical support, from a market leading manufacturer and designer.  It is well placed to offer immediate, practical solutions to Building Regulations Parts F & L.

Domus Ventilation, part of the Polypipe group, is pleased to announce the appointment of Shane Leather as National Specification Sales Manager.

Shane’s appointment to this post forms part of Domus Ventilation’s well structured strategy to return to the specification sector following the launch of a range of high performance mechanical ventilation systems over the past six months. These include the HRXE Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) unit and the highly energy-efficient CMX Mechanical Extract Ventilation (MEV) units, which boasts the best Specific Fan Power (SFP) on the market.

A key part of Shane’s role as National Specification Sales Manager is to reintroduce M&C Consultants and specifiers to Domus Ventilation – formerly known as Polypipe Ventilation – and advise on the most suitable and compliant mechanical ventilation system for a project. Shane’s 23 years experience working across the breadth of the HVAC sector – from air handling units and curtains to pumps and ducting – has put him in good stead for this role. Prior to joining Domus Ventilation, Shane was Regional Sales Manager for London and the South East at Armstrong Fluid Technology, selling into specifiers and contractors. This all round experience made him an ideal candidate for this newly established role at Domus Ventilation.

For Shane, moving to Domus Ventilation represented a challenge that he was keen to embrace: “Domus Ventilation has undergone a number of changes over recent years, including a name change and a move away from specification to focus on the installer and merchant channels. Being absent from the specifier sector for some time essentially means I have the opportunity to build this side of the business from scratch and that’s an exciting proposition. The product range is attractive to specifiers and contractors alike and the company has been working to put in place support for the specification sector. So it’s a challenge, but that’s what interests me! It’s about re awakening of the Domus Ventilation name.”

Shane has certainly been busy since joining Domus Ventilation, re establishing contact with former specification customers and with his own contacts developed over the years, which has already born fruit; he is currently working on a number of specification projects. In addition, Shane has written a presentation which has been submitted to CIBSE for CPD accreditation, which is expected shortly.

Supporting the re entry into the specification sector, Domus Ventilation’s in-house Technical Department is providing free technical and design services, all products have been uploaded to the BIM library and a new 108 page Specification Guide has been released.

Following the launch of its ceiling/void mounted HRX-aQ Mechanical Ventilation with Heat Recovery (MVHR) appliances with intelligent air management, Domus Ventilation, part of Polypipe, has introduced this same advanced ‘Bluebrain’ control to its wall mounted MVHR units.

The new Domus HRX-D and HRX-2D wall mounted MVHR units intelligently match ventilation rates to the internal environment and occupants’ requirements, for maximum homeowner comfort. This is achieved through advanced AMIE (Air Management for Indoor Environments) technology including features such as digital humidity control, automated summer bypass and accurate system balancing.

By accurately measuring air humidity, the HRX-D’s extract speed automatically changes from background to boost as the level of humidity increases, thereby providing optimal ventilation performance. The thermal (summer) bypass feature operates in a similar manor, automatically activating when the air temperature reaches a pre-set level, allowing in cooler, fresh, filtered air, instead of distributing air which has been warmed from the waste energy extracted from the kitchen and wet rooms.

For the homeowner, a key benefit is that these features can be easily programmed by them based on time and temperature. This flexibility enables all comfort levels to be catered for, regardless of the type of property and its construction.

At the heart of this intelligent air management is Domus Ventilation’s compact Bluebrain control, which also provides homeowners with helpful maintenance reminders for cleaning and replacing filters to ensure performance of the unit is maximised and air quality maintained.

As with Domus Ventilation’s previous MVHR ranges, the new HRX-D remains extremely efficient. When used with a kitchen and one wet room, at typical installation, the HRX-D provides an 88% heat exchange performance and boasts a very low Specific Fan Power down to 0.66W/(l/s). It is also exceptionally quiet, with background (normal) ventilation at 24dB(A) (typically whisper quiet).

The HRX-D has been designed to work most efficiently when used with Domus duct systems, including its new Flow Control Plenum and High Efficiency Green Line Bends, which reduce duct bend resistance by up to 60%. Domus duct systems offer improved system performance through the exacting tolerances and engineered fit of the system, whereby pressure drops are minimised and air leakage virtually eliminated.

Sitting alongside the ceiling/void mounted HRX-aQ unit, the HRX-D has been designed for installation smaller properties, whilst the HRX-2D for larger houses. They are suitable for installation in a cupboard, utility room or loft.

Domus Ventilation has a well deserved reputation for quality, supported by excellent technical support, from a market leading manufacturer and designer. It is well placed to offer immediate, practical solutions to Building Regulations Parts F & L. The company continues to provide differentiated solutions in the private and social housing sectors, transforming the way developers, specifiers, installers, home owners and distributors meet emerging environmental standards.
